After a career as a tax accountant/tax inspector I turned my hobby into work. I started (MW)², editing, typesetting and doing the lay-out of (mostly) school books. I lived in a small village called Doorwerth, more or less on the battlefield of Operation Market Garden.
In 2003 I met Lawrance on the ferry between Newcastle and IJmuiden.
Being self-employed enabled me to go on trips with him, doing my work on the laptop while he was driving. With the truck we visited most countries in Europe, as well as Morocco, Tunisia, Cyprus and Las Palmas.
From a tax inspector via a trucker’s moll to a water gypsy is a long way. But so far I don’t regret any of these stages.
